SIRE and Odoo: integration, controls and additional processes

SIRE changes the nature of the accounting work: instead of building the sales and purchase records, the company compares them against what SUNAT already holds. What Odoo has to deliver is information clean enough to make that comparison possible.

What changed

SIRE progressively replaces PLE for the sales and purchase registers. SUNAT generates a proposal from the electronic documents it has received, and the taxpayer confirms, adjusts or explains the difference. The consequence is that document quality in the ERP now has a direct tax effect, rather than being tidied up at filing time.

What Odoo must provide

Correctly typed documents — document type, series, number — with the right dates, the right tax treatment, and a consistent exchange rate. Anything ambiguous in the ERP becomes a difference to explain later.

Where differences come from

In practice, four sources: documents received but not recorded, documents recorded with a different date or exchange rate, documents typed under the wrong operation type, and credit or debit notes not linked to the document they modify. All four are configuration and process issues, not filing issues.

Configuration, integration or development

Generating the underlying information is standard Odoo work once the localization is properly configured. Producing the exact file or API payload SUNAT expects may require adjustment or development depending on version and scope, and is worth confirming explicitly rather than assuming.

A workable monthly rhythm

Reconcile received documents weekly, so the month closes from a known position. Compare against the SUNAT proposal before filing, not on the deadline. Keep a record of every explained difference, because the same counterparty tends to produce the same difference again.

Obligations and formats change.

Rollout schedules, formats and thresholds are set by SUNAT and updated periodically. Any scope should be confirmed against the regulation in force at the time of the project.

Frequently asked questions

Is SIRE generated directly from Odoo?

Odoo provides the sales and purchase information that feeds the register. Depending on version and scope, part of the format may require adjustment or development. This is defined during discovery rather than assumed.

What happens if our records differ from the SUNAT proposal?

The difference has to be explained, which is why document quality in the ERP matters. Most recurring differences come from documents received late, wrong operation types or inconsistent exchange rates.

Does this replace our accounting advisor?

No. It changes the work: less register building, more reconciliation and explanation of differences.
