Choosing an ERP in Peru: common questions
How long does the selection take?
With organised information, two to six weeks: map the current cycle, define non-negotiable requirements, see demos on your own cases and compare proposals with identical scope. What stretches the decision is comparing proposals that do not include the same work.
Generic or industry-specific ERP?
It depends on how much of your process is genuinely specific. Many companies find their particularity sits in two or three points that an integrated ERP solves with configuration or a contained development.
What happens to historical data?
You decide what is migrated and what stays consultable in the old system. Migrating everything is rarely the best option; migrating balances and masters almost always is.
Will we have to change our processes?
Some, and it is better to know upfront. An ERP enforces consistency: if two departments record the same event differently, one of them will change.
