Odoo 18 in Peru: changes that matter to businesses

Odoo 18 was an incremental release. For a Peruvian company the practical question is narrower than the feature list: does anything in it change how you handle statutory requirements or costing.

How to read any Odoo release

Each annual version brings interface refinements, performance work and functional additions spread across modules. Very little of it changes an existing, well-configured installation. What matters is the intersection of the release with the three things that are expensive to get wrong: taxes, document numbering and inventory valuation.

Questions worth asking about a version

Does anything change in the accounting or tax modules that affects existing configuration? Does the Peruvian localization behave differently? Is your electronic invoicing provider’s interface compatible? Do any of your custom modules depend on behaviour that changed? Those four answers decide whether a version is relevant to you.

If you are currently on 18

Treat it as a stable base rather than a destination. The useful work is not chasing features but inventorying your custom modules and deciding which ones will survive the next upgrade. That inventory is what makes every future version cheaper.

If you are implementing now

Implement on a current supported version, and keep the custom footprint as small as the process genuinely allows. Companies that resist customisation during implementation pay far less at every upgrade afterwards.

Feature details change.

Release contents and support windows are published by Odoo and updated over time. Confirm the current details before making a version decision; we do not reproduce feature lists that may have moved.

Frequently asked questions

Should we upgrade to the newest version immediately?

Rarely. Upgrade when a version brings something you will use, or when your current one approaches the end of its support window.

Does a new version affect Peruvian localization?

It can. Localization behaviour and provider interfaces should be confirmed explicitly for the target version before planning an upgrade.

Where can we see what a version includes?

Odoo publishes release information for each version. For a decision that matters, read the current source rather than a secondhand summary.
